Large Group Tips?

Hey Friends!  I work at a mid-size church (about 250 on Sundays) and our Wednesday night program has been growing recently.  We hit about 40 kids and suddenly, things seem REALLY crazy.  The kids are fidgety and they can't seem to focus on the lesson.  They talk to their neighbor a lot or fall off chairs.  Oh boy!   The lesson time is about 15 minutes, 15 minutes for songs, 15 minutes for small groups and 15 minutes for games.    It is a large age range.. ages 4 to 12. Just wondering if anyone…See More

"Hey Bonnie, That's a great thought and I could certainly see from the parents' perspective why that could be an issue. Thanks so much for sharing. I'll definitely communicate with parents before services."

What Are You Afraid Of?

Posted by Lynda Freeman on April 23, 2014 at 11:43am 0 Comments

When it comes to recruiting volunteers, what are you afraid of?  Yes, I said, "afraid". So often people in children's ministry seem to almost "hate" recruiting or at least strongly dread and dislike it. Which leads me to my question; what are you afraid of? Are you afraid people will say, "no" when you ask them to serve? Are you afraid you will feel "awkward" if people say "no"? Are you afraid you won't have the volunteers you need and then worry about how to "cover" the…

Stimulating Children to Apply Truth

Posted by Wanda Parker on April 23, 2014 at 9:24am 0 Comments

The kids were full of energy as they came into the Gathering Room and sat down with their Discipler to begin the morning, “Say, who can tell us what we talked about last week?”

SILENCE

The above is probably a scene that would be replayed across the world on Sunday mornings if such a question was even…
