We post update videos, a weekly family devotional based on our series and the latest photos of the stuff that's happening around our church.
You can see that on that page that we are also sending out a mailchimp newsletter weekly with updated information and it's getting a great response.
How are you using social media to connect with the families in your church?
It looks like you have an open group. I am thinking of having a page for parents, but I would like to be able to post pictures of the kids. If the group is open, some parents may not want pictures of their kids shown for anyone to see. How do you approach this?
Does anyone else have an open or closed group? What are the advantages/disadvantages of either?
We just simply have a Facebook Page. We find that there's a large discrepancy in the amount of parents who don't want their kid's picture up and those that do. Of the 250-300 kids who attend weekly, only 1 family does not want their picture posted.
So that's how we operate. We have a public page, post pictures, and are careful to edit out any name tags that are shown, keeping a mental note of which kids (in this case, 1) to not post.
