Is the size of your classroom causing behavior problems in your group?

Within half an hour of arriving in your group, Braden has tripped over a chair, fallen into another kid, walked into the end of a table, and caused mass confusion when he came to the worship time and bumped into several kids already singing and praising the Lord. Friends are frustrated with him. Others are mad at him for hurting them. Volunteers are ready to throw him out or throw up their hands in disgust. What is going on with this child? Could it be that the physical space in your room is not…See More

How do I help a mom whose child wants to go live with the other parent?

A church leader approached me with the following situation. “I have a wonderful Christian single mom in our church who is devastated, and I don’t know how to help. She has done everything to provide for and create a happy Christian home for her kids. The other day her son asked to go live with his dad. She is beside herself with worry. The ex doesn’t live a Christian lifestyle, and she is worried about the care he will provide for her son. How am I supposed to minister to her?”Children’s…See More

Parental Alienation - is it real?

Parental alienation

My introduction to parental alienation was several years ago. A mom’s ex-husband was constantly telling us all about his ex’s bad traits. If that wasn’t bad enough, when the child returned from visitation with the dad, he was caustic toward his mother.

To be honest with you, I got confused about whom to believe and was basically clueless about how to handle the mom, the dad, and the child.

My first reaction was to…

How to help children of divorce with confused, divided and split loyalties

Posted on January 18, 2016 at 9:16am 0 Comments

Children of divorce have to do a lot of adjusting. And they have to continue to adjust as they continue to grow. As new people enter into their parent’s lives, children adjust. As people leave their lives they adjust. They learn to make do and accommodate the adults in their lives.

We said it before on this blog but I think it needs to be repeated. In order for a child to say “hello” to one parent they must always be saying “good bye” to the other parent. When they say “hello” they…

Hey Linda,
I received the invite for the Branden, FL location. I unfortunately will not be able to attend. I am however very interested in talking with you or catching up with you at a future training. We have a very small cm. Over half of our children are from broken homes. I see a great need for our leaders to be trained in this area and that we develop a ministry to help navigate the children and parents through this tough time in their lives. Thank you for what you do. I look forward to talking with you soon.

Great to hear from you Linda. I talked to Vikki Dobbins the other day and I was excited that Whiz Kids hired her. She will do a great job for them.
