Other Things About Me:
I have a passion for Child Discipleship. I strongly believe that if the church was trained to think critically about the needs of children (not the needs or wants of mom and dad, not the pastor, not other adults) we could stop the loss of 70% of our church raised kids. Way too much of what we do in children's ministry is what make adults feel good - not what the kids truly need.

I have been a children's pastor in mega and medium size churches. I have developed Youth Development outreach ministries. I have trained churches of all sizes to walk with kids through life. I am presently writing a curriculum to engage the whole church in Child Discipleship.

Preparing Your Children for What Is To Come #2

Posted on July 20, 2015 at 1:44pm 0 Comments

Do your children know why they can trust the Bible? This is the second of my Blog posts on preparing your children for whatever Almighty God has for them to walk through. We know not what tomorrow holds - we do know WHO holds tomorrow.

But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make…

What is the Emphasis of Your Children's Ministry?

How it thrills our hearts to see children reading their Bibles – especially when they are excited to read the Bible.

What is our real desire for the children as they gain Biblical knowledge?

Recently two books have been given to me that have taken me back to my earliest memories: lying in bed – recapping my day with my best friend,…

Hi, Wanda!

"Mary Rice Hopkins & Puppets with A Heart" is a NEW Christian children's program which employs the use of live action, master puppetry, and song to create a weekly episodic program which equally entertains and teaches valuable life-choices to its young audience.

You can tune in Saturdays on TBN or view online.  This show deals with tough issues kids are facing today and will change children's hearts for a lifetime.  Program schedule on Saturdays:  8:30 a.m. (PST), 9:30 a.m. (MT), 10:30 a.m. (CT), and 11:30 a.m. (EST).

I'm a Children's Pastor  We have ministry for all ages of children.  I have one point that I want the teachers to have the kids "get".  A majority of the kids are bussed in, so that changes how we minister to the kids.  I'm always looking at ways of discipleship.

I am amazed!! I have been scrolling the forum pages for views on staffing. Paid positions compared with church size etc...
300+ kids and only one full-time paid postion! Did I get that right? How many services do you have Children's Ministry running?
I agree with Joe - your chart is super organised and a little scary. Are there double ups - ie do some people do more than one role?
Looking to restructure what we are doing and looking for ideas. What you have going is amazing.

Wanda, what a great story and strategy for disciplining kids. I'm doing an article for Children's Ministry Magazine about how you make a difference in kid's lives now as children and later as adults. If you have a specific story of a child and could share it with me in a couple of paragraphs I can include it in the magazine article. Photos of the person as a child and adult would be great but are optional. Let me know if you're interested.
