creativity exercise : make better applications

Posted on July 7, 2013 at 2:04am 0 Comments

alright, you ready for a challenge?

this is an exercise to stretch your mind to think of things differently, and train you to look for spiritual applications all around you.

my kids always ask me, “does everything have to be a lesson?”

the answer is “yes, if possible”.

here is how it works…

go browsing.

( remember when you were shaping with your mom and she would tell the sales lady that she was ‘was just browsing’ so she would go away? or maybe that was…

SWAG and the armor of God

Posted on February 11, 2013 at 11:40pm 0 Comments

we wanted to do an adventure series...

then as we started writing and creating we decided we wanted them to memorize the armor of God.

then i decided i needed to write a song because it's easier to learn if it's music...

so i did and it's available for free download for the time…

we need lyric videos!

found a new resource that i wanted to share... because it's awesome.

and i'm really picky. like... really, really picky.

i personally think that nothing sticks like music, nothing has the power to remind and encourage like music... so i'm super selective about what music is allowed into the worship experience and rooms, for that matter, at my church in our treehouses... we have 5 of them.

anyway, 2 months ago my friend Shane Pass introduced me to a couple of…

so, sometimes i’ve wondered, why do i have to say things a million times?

even in the midst of this family fun portrait session… i had to repeat myself ALOT

“don’t throw it right in her eye” “no, we don’t want to just pour it on his shirt” “you can’t have the green, it’s your turn to have…

Wow! You are a "night Owl".  I'd love to connect with you.  Where do you live.  I'm in White House.  I'm currently ministering with a very small church right on the town square in Springfield.  You can email me at

I love your Easter dress comment and the adorable picture of your daughter.  My 5 children are all grown up and I'm enjoying the first two of many grandchildren to come I hope.

We always dressed up for Easter too, but since I moved here 2 years ago, I noticed a lot of the families don't do that.  We had a great Easter Day at The Church at Grace Park.  We do a rotation model for Children's Church.  We turned one of the classrooms into a cave and had a big round paper mache' stone to roll in front of the door.  We gave the kids an easter egg with playdo and the teacher had them make shapes as she told the Easter story.  WE did something different for the early service, 8:00 a.m. (kids whose parents were there all morning) so those kids wouldn't have to repeat the same activity.  They made the tomb rolls that you wrap a bisquit around a marshmallow and bake to make an empty tomb.  Then they were served to all the other kids at the other services, of course they got to sample some while they worked and really had some a great time of service and fellowship.  Normally, one of our rotations is a game, but instead we planned to go outside for an easter egg hunt.  Well if you remember it stormed and poured rain and we had to improvise and have our egg hunt indoors.  We also had Mary come and visit and tell first hand about the empty tomb.  So the kids ate an empty tomb, went into the tomb, made a tomb out of play-do, and heard Mary tell about the empty tomb.  During our large group time they saw a video of the account and of course sang about our risen Lord.

Hi mentioned your husband was from Dothan.  My wife and I are currently in Dothan but are not originally from here.  I noticed you went to Samford--I have some friends that went to Samford  and we lived in Trussville for several years.  Drop me a line and let me know what you are up to with the kids and hopefully we can make a connection.  Always love to meet creative inspired people.
