"I would suppose it depends on how important children's ministry is to your pastors. I believe putting teenagers in charge of Children's Church is lowering the bar of ministry. Teenager's brains are not yet developed in the areas of…"
I can't imagine..although I love to invest in training and equipping youth, I can't imagine that they are ready to spiritually lead a congregation of children. It's more than just carrying out a 'program.'"
I think that there is truth in both yours and your pastors desires for the children's ministry. I have a 3 part post on youth serving in the children's ministery at shannav.wordpress.com My children's ministry…"
"I love the idea of having youth be a major part of children's church. I even like the idea of having them "lead" the service itself, but it sounds like a recipe for disaster to have them in charge of the planning, organization and…"
"I think as long as the youth are trained by you and there are still adults in the room. I would be more concerned about hte lack of adult supervision. If something would ever happen atleast you know there was an adult in the room that is a cleared…"
sorry about the delay...since you sent me a message in APRIL!!! I never thought to come on to 'my page' and check my wall. If you're still interested in our VBS structure let me know I'd love to help if i can
Tresa, I'm in Plainview. You know where that's at...it's that city that's not Amarillo or Lubbock. :)
Anyways, Fritch doesn't look like it's too far from us. Hope all is well, it's good to have another west Texan on board. I don't have any Crock Dock stuff, but I'll keep my eye out. Anything else I can do for you, just hollar and I'll see what i can come up with. Adios!
Hey Tresa - THANKS for joining the HVKM group! To answer your ? we actually don't use any other curriculum in our church. We write and produce everything from scratch every week. We have over 30 weeks worth of stuff waiting in the wings to be released. Plus MUCH MORE to come. Keep your eyes peeled.
Tresa- good to hear from you and congrats on your new set. SOS- I like that. As far as a theme, what about a ship wreck / Gilligan's Island theme. That would be fun for that age and would preach. The castaways are lost and want desperately to be "Saved". All kids love tree houses/club houses, so why not a portable hut with a thatch roof, etc. That would be a perfect theme talking about the sea- Jonah and the whale, God putting our sins at the bottom of the "Sea of Forgetfulness", Jesus says we are to be "Fishers of Men," etc. You could give out Life Savers candy as rewards or prizes for competition. I think the SOS theme is GREAT!!! Now, are you wanting to somehow add the X-treme heat theme to that? If so, I'll have to think about that a while! Please give me some more info. Thanks! I would like to invite you to join my group, Sets, Props, backdrops, and Banners, and maybe other people can contribute also.
Well hello Tresa! My name is Dennis and I just found out about CMC a few weeks back and had to join. I am looking to meet good people who work with kids. My business and Ministry is theming Children's Churches and providing props and banners of any size for the Ministry. If you are interested, I would like to invite you to drop by my site and view some pictures of my work. I would be honored to be used as a resource in the future. If I can help you with anything, please let me know. Blessings to you!
