WHAT WE DO BEST

So there I was, watching the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, along with my almost 18 year old daughter. Okay, I think she was actually reading a book on the other end of the couch, but I’m sure she at least glanced up periodically to find out what all the screaming was about.

Like all things related to kids and kid culture, I found myself asking, “what can I learn here that will help in the all time goal of ministering to children?” Well, there were no surprises on most of the winners.… Continue

Re-post from Lanny Donoho: PENN SAYS...

Just in case you missed this - or haven't seen it - I highly recommend you check it out.

There is a lot that we could say about it - but the response is bigger than our reaction. What does this do to move us outside of the box we have created (and still are creating at times).

He's speaking truth, right? If we believe it, we believe it. When did we get off course into this idea… Continue

EXODUS - A QUESTION

I have always liked the book of EXODUS.

I can remember learning about Moses in my little sunday school room nearly 20 years ago. I went home and decided to read the entire book of Exodus (in the revered KJV...sigh...at least it was an Adventure Bible - thanks Zondervan!) which was no easy task for a third grader. I loved it though. I loved the idea of a powerful God delivering His people and showing Himself to be the true God.

I loved that the Hebrews, despite seeing all… Continue

Videos?

Hi everyone,
We are looking for some videos to be able to implement in our children's ministry as a teaching aid. I have had someone request one on the story of Lazarus. If you can help me out by giving me a link to a great place, then let me know!

2009-The Year of Change

I just spent a fun weekend with my daughter Katie. We drove to Springfield, MO to Evangel University ( an Assemblies of God School) for a tour and meetings with advisors. Her friend , Nicki, who will also be attending Evangel in the fall went with us. Reality struck on the drive home. In a few short months, I will be leaving my child, my baby girl at a University, five hours from my home in Oklahoma City. We've been through this with our oldest daughter but she went to school here in Oklahoma.… Continue

A tribute to Love and Dr. Seuss

I have an offsite blog at www.prodygal.com. I write it to help me relax and usually write about life things intertwined with a Biblical message. What I'm getting at is it is not a blog based on Children's ministry. However, I did write this earlier this month and thought I would share it with you here.

Written on March 7-As a fan of Dr. Seuss and knowing his birthday was earlier this month, this Seussique style story is based on an act of a love that I was an eyewitness to this… Continue

Childhood Lessons

As I write I always think back to what stories, teaching and bible passages impacted me deeply. Today was one of those days, writing about the Bible and being devoted to the word the constant memories came flooding back to me of flannel pictures of objects that describe the Bible, a Lamp, a mirror, fire etc. I can see so vividly in my mind the illustrations, the colours, the smell of the room, the face and voices of those that taught me.

I have been so fortunate to grow up in an… Continue

Volunteer Application Questions

What questions do you guys have on your volunteer applications? I need to revise our's which doesn't ask the right questions. I have seen some that are 10 pages long. I don't want to overwhelm people, but at the same time, I want to ask the right key questions. Also, do you have the same application for helpers as you do for teachers?
