“But God wills our good, and our good is to love [God]…and to love [God] we must know [God]: and if we know [God], we shall in fact fall on our faces. If we do not, that only shows that what we are trying to love is not yet [God]…” (C.S. Lewis, The Problem of Pain, pg 46). Huh, that makes sense. I always find something to ponder when I read C.S. Lewis. I can’t possibly love God unless I truly know God (in as much as that is humanly possible). I can’t love a person unless I know him/her. I could… Continue

Just heard something called "drive through prayer service" on the radio. I searched it on google and it returned me 284K result. Really interesting concept. You drive through and drop your prayer request and there will be roomful people praying for you. And best of all, it takes you only 5 minutes, then you can continue what you were doing. Just like -- fast food. Ha.

On April 23 the students in the high school Bible club “Fuse” had the first of two very unique messages. Bob Heath, founder of Kids for Christ USA, had a crazy idea, one of those that are “so crazy they just might work”.
“The idea was to get all the students to join a ‘text group’ for FUSE (The name of the group). Then I gave them all about 24 hours to text what they wish that they could hear someone teach, then I would teach them via text… Continue

There's been debate about giving kids rewards for spiritual disciplines. Both sides have made valid points. Recently something happened that caused a new paradigm shift in my thinking about this. Read about it at www.relevantchildrensministry.blogspot.com

Thought for the day and everyday!!
Ye sons of men,
bless the Lord God unceasingly,
every hour and every day:
but more especially
when the sun has set:
for at that hour all the angels
proceed to the Lord to worship him
and to present the works of men,
which every man has wrought
from the morning till the evening,
whether good or evil
And there is a certain angel
who proceeds rejoicing

March/April was a very ruff month, we now have our own building so we spent three wks remolding the sanctuary, and I had an accident and hurt my shoulder running into a metal door frame. My daughter wrote a script about St Bernard getting caught by the dogcatcher. BibleBetty uses all her money in her piggy bank to get him out. All the puppeteers worked very hard on the church so we weren’t able to practice as well as we should so we… Continue

Does anyone have the complete "Camp Iwilligoway" curriculum? I would love to use it with my elementary age kids, but it is no longer available (at least from the Willow Creek Association site). Or do you know where I can buy it? Thanks!

I would like to do a really fun, cool, amazing Bible memory contest this summer for the kids, but invite the church family to participate. It would just be for the summer, say 6 to 8 weeks and then end with a fun family nite celebration. Anyone have some ideas, thoughts? I was even thinking video tapping individuals, kids, families and playing them sunday mornings?

We just "finished" Easter (not that one can ever "finish" Easter) and we're all gearing up for VBS. With all this activity, we can easily find ourselves forgetting to make time for hanging out with God. I invite you to check out my recent blog post, a reflection on hanging out with God. http://nancydayachauer.wordpress.com

Dear Friends and Partners:
We had an awesome weekend in Kansas City, KS ministering at Glad Tidings Assembly of God.The church bussed children in from the surrounding community and some under privileged communities. This was an awesome 3 day outreach event! During these 3 days in Kansas City we saw around 40 children born again.
We did a teacher training session on Saturday morning with around 20 children's workers present. It was a great time of encouragement and vision… Continue

One of the best opportunities you have to impact children and families is the weekend after Easter. If you strategically plan another big weekend right after Easter, you can leverage Easter to not only to reach people on Easter but also the weekend after.
We have big plans for this coming weekend. We promoted it heavily to all the kids and families that were here for Easter. Kids are inviting their friends, we are starting a new series, we are contacting all our Easter guests and… Continue

Hi all. I would very much appreciate your prayers for my brother right now, His name is Neal, and he was skydiving in Norfolk, Va, where he lives, and had a mishap and slammed into a church building last Saturday, and he's in the hospital in serious condition. He has several broken bones including his skull, ankle, leg, and is in a LOT of pain. He also is coming in and out of reality mentally, which means sometimes he understands what happened, and sometimes he doesn't which complicates… Continue

Whatever you are, be a good one" [Abraham Lincoln].
The message in this short statement is so powerful: regardless of the position you hold or the role you fulfill, perform it to the very best of your abilities. Or, as Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath said, "If you're not going all the way, why go at all?"
Abraham Lincoln was going all the way! There are many reasons that I admire and respect this man. From his humble beginnings as a Kentucky frontiersman,… Continue

Have you ever been in a situation with someone or a group of people and walked away with a bad taste in your mouth? Then, the next time you see that person or group of people, you associate the previous experience's result with this new and current scenario.
We all do. And that is a problem. It is for me anyway.
When we first meet people we generally sum them up in about 30 seconds. That's why "first impressions" are so important. Everything else gets viewed from that… Continue

The idea of parents partnering with the church to raise their children into spiritual champions is a beautiful thing. The idea that parents take on the full responsibility of the spiritual health of their child and the church is there to guide them in that quest. Did you know that in a year the church has about 40 hours with each child, and parents have 2000 hours (that doesn’t include school, sleep, etc)? If we combined those influences, imagine how much of a greater influence we can have on… Continue

My heart cringes when I see my children stumbling over my same sins... pride, envy, and jealousy. Patiently, I try to correct them. I search for the root issue leading them to fall. Then, I wonder. I wonder if they will follow the same dark path I took as a teen. I pray they do not.
I pray my children don't repeat my mistakes.
Watching your child fall into or even struggle with temptation is horrible.… Continue
