I want to start up a mid-week program for Wed nights and our church is on a tight budget. Does anyone have any used curriculum they would like to pass along? I could mail a check for shipping. We need something fun for kids from pre-k thru elementary. Anyone have anything laying in a closet that won't be missed?

a letter from one of the parents...
I've been wanting to email you back for some time just to let you know how much encouragement I've gained not only from your email updates but also your consistent and loving presence each week in A's toddler class. He loves it so much, and he's always telling us about what he's learning! He still touches a finger to each palm and says, "Jesus is ALIVE!" at random times, and when we pray each night before bed, we've been thanking God for the Bible… Continue

Recruiting teachers and workers for children’s ministry is always a daunting task. Here’s 10 tips to make it easier.
1. Develop friendships.
It’s easier to recruit somebody who believes you care about him or her more than you care about recruiting.
2. Keep the children before the congregation.
Children who never perform in front of the congregation and who are never seen will be forgotten.
3. Give regular update through the bulletin and… Continue

I am looking for any information concerning incorporating hand motions to praise and worship music. Looking for any instructional information that could help me with this ministry. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

PART THREE: Clinch the Deal
a. Don’t Be Afraid
Decide ahead of time how long you think they’ll need to consider it and then don’t be afraid to touch base with them on their thoughts. It’s best done in a casual way, so if you see them on the weekend or out somewhere, slip in the ‘Did you get my email? Or ‘What did you think of the rehearsal?’. They will be relieved that they didn’t have to bring it up themselves. Be 100% positive and excited – again – HEADSPACE. If you… Continue

Edited this video to promote our second year of "Ignite Camp" a program we created for outreach in our community. Last year we saw our Wednesday evening numbers jump from 85 to around 145 K-6th each Wednesday night. Many of the kids who come are unchurched and they come to see what all the fuss is about. Most have stayed and some have made decisions to follow… Continue

I was so excited to see Michael begin this group which is free, but even this is lacking something. I have seen a lot of discussion on the newly formed ACMA. I, for one, am really excited to finally have a formal organization. It seems that, for too long, we have been divided between popular paid sites, such as kidology, etc...
I think that ACMA brings another level of accountability to our profession. I think it will be something that churches will consider as they look into future… Continue

Yes, I know I may be hung out to dry for this one. I know that 98% of churches have a VBS. I get it. I understand why. I don't think there is anything wrong for other people doing them, I just know they are not for me. Here are a few reasons why...
1. Vacation Bible Schools are not vacations for anyone.
2. The area I work in has year-round schools.
3. I think camp is much better option for kids, it separates them from their stuff (DS, video games, etc...)
4. Vacation… Continue

I am back after a bit of a break from CMCONNECT and let me tell you I am so happy to be back into the swing of things.
So this past week was my 1st week at Elementary camp with the 3 through 5 graders from Southeast Christian and around the Kentuckian area and man o man was it a great week! The kids learned about the fruits of the spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patient, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control and it's so cool to see the kids… Continue

If you are in the Phoenix, AZ area, I'd love to chat with you and hear what you are doing that is effective in the culture of the valley.
If not, I'd still love to get to know you and hear minstry perspectives from wherever you are.

Part 2. Asking
a. Do It Now!
There’s never a perfect time. Often, if there’s no rush, I will wait for that moment of inspiration to seise me when I really am in the right headspace; I completely believe that they are going to love hearing from me and excited that I called them and asked them. The other 99% of the time, don't wait - just do it. You may feel sick to your stomach while you’re dialling the number but at least it will stop keeping you up at night! Some specific tips:… Continue

Money makes the world go round. No one can deny that. Whether loaded or in poverty, it’s a necessary evil. The economic crisis of our country has placed an even greater emphasis on budgeting the family income. Compromised corporate structures, mismanaged banks, salary-slashing, busted benefits, lost jobs, inflated insurance costs … each accompany an adequate portion of stress for our future. Financial peace is going to really test many families in the coming days. It is definitely getting… Continue

Over the past few months, I have been working through building a relationship with our Youth Pastor. For me, this is monumental and miraculous because I have had less than stellar relationships with and respect for youth pastor's in the past. But God has been working on me and it is starting to show.
Our youth just finished up youth camp and for the first time in many years, I attended several of the evening services. The presence of God was awesome and the ministry of the Word was… Continue

"The Bible is only for one purpose-the unfolding of the plan of salvation." pg. 84 of Henrietta Mear's book, God's Plan.
Have you ever purchased Orange Juice and then as you were drinking it noticed the label read, "orange Drink' with smaller print stating: 'contains 10% juice' or worse still, 'contains no orange juice'. Well, it tasted like orange juice but taste is deceiving sometimes, isn't it? I have found this to be true with most modern prepackaged Sunday School curriculums for… Continue

Dear Friends and Partners:
We have had an awesome 2 weeks ministering at camps.

I have been teaching creation from Genesis to my young boys class on Wednesday nights for the last six weeks. Last night we finished, talking about how God rested. As we were going back over the days of creation, I mentioned that God had formed Adam/man out of dust or dirt. One of the boys in my class chimned in, "Yes, God made man and woman and kids from dirt." Then I heard him say to himself, "No wonder we've been loosing dirt in our backyard. My mom has four kids."

Have you ever got so frustrated at something that you just stepped back and said: “OH, MAN!” Yeah, me too. That seems to happen from time to time, but what is really important is what follows.
Some of us might just give up, and others will take some time, re-evaluate their situation and then move forward to completion. There will be times that you become frustrated. Whether you are the pastor or the pope, if you’ve been in the ministry long enough you will have those… Continue
