I am FINALLY full time at the church. And what better way to get me started with my full-time position than by giving me a day off. I really didn't want to take it, but I have personal days to use before my "full-timeness" starts, tomorrow. Tomorrow is also the day our FROG (Fully Rely On God) program starts at our church. From October to March each year we host a midweek program at our church that attracts around 200 kids weekly. We don't do all that much advertising for it. Kids hear about it… Continue

Adiós Mis Amigos
I am off to the Dominican Republic on October 5 to October 11 for Compassion International's first ever Global Conference. During the course of the trip I will be unable to post and blog at all my usual sites (this site included), but I will be maintaining a blog journal that you can read by following the links provided. Hopefully as the journal is updated daily, I will update the links as well.
Here are the first two links I posted today in preparation… Continue

Dear friends and partners:
We had an awesome 3 day event at the First Presbyterian Church in Ocala, FL. This was the first event of this kind the church had ever had. Children and parents had an awesome time learning bible truths.
The Children's Director and her 7 1/2 year old daughter came to our event in Orlando last Feb. and her daughter received Jesus and was born again. As soon as we got to the church in Ocala her daughter came up and said " I am… Continue

YES IT IS HOLIDAYS AND WELL WE ARE ON A BREAK FOR 2 WEEKS. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE STOP THERE. IT IS SO IMPORTANT THAT IN THIS TIME WE REFRESH OURSELVES IN THE LORD, WHILE STILL KEEPING THE CHILDREN IN PRAYER. THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO GET VERY IMPORTANT BUSINESS DONE THE MOST IMPORTANT WORK THE BUSINESS BETWEEN YOU AND GOD THIS IS THE TIME WE SEEK THE HAND OF GOD IN OUR MINISTRY AND WHAT HE WANTS US TO TEACH THE CHILDREN SO SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUNESS AND ALL… Continue

I first learned about Light the Night from a church website www.lightthenightpa.com.
If you are able, please support their efforts by purchasing materials from them. I had spent years either avoiding Halloween or creating "alternative" events to get kids and their parents away from it. Since this is a Howto document, I will not enter into the theological concerns here. For what it's worth, I am a born-again Spirit Filled charismatic gifted Christian.… Continue

I had a tendency in years gone by to work on my day off. I made excuses like "my wife is working, my kids are in school, there's too much to get done, etc." Through a series of events, I came to my senses and realized I have to take a day off each week. I mean think about it...even God rested a day..and He's God! On my day off, I try not to answer church calls to my cell phone, not do email, etc. I'll be honest...it's not always easy. In ministry, work never stops coming at you. Don't kid… Continue

I'm tired... I've been yawning for the past hour... The light's off... I'm comfy in my bed... but i just can't fall asleep. This has been the pattern for the past EIGHT, yes, I said, EIGHT weeks. I've been falling asleep between 3 - 6 am for the past eight weeks. Once I'm asleep, I'm TOTALLY asleep. I mean, deep-deep sleep, that I don't hear the alarm go off. Thankfully my flexible schedule has allowed me to sleep in... but it's really annoying...
I've had A LOT on my mind...… Continue

Disclaimer: I am in no way belittling nor condemning education.
I am a pastor and if you are actually reading this post, you are either a pastor or heavily involved in pastoring children. God bless you and keep you. You are the light of the world, my brothers and sisters.
I have several papers to write, and in the course of understanding the assigned task, the class was admonished to avoid "things written by pastors." In case I was listening with too critical of an ear,… Continue

Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! James 3:3-5

Wow, I really enjoyed Jerry and Candy Moyer of Jubilee Gang in their recent appearance at my church! These guys have the flash and they have the heart for ministry. We had kids who responded to the salvation message and those who felt God was speaking to their hearts about His purpose for their life. One mom, not from our church, said, her kids had never responded to an alter call before. She was totally stoked about it! I remember a mom responding to the alter call and seeing kid's workers… Continue

In a graduate class, the professor made an observation about people who interpret the Bible "through prayer." In the class we had discussed the meaning of some scripture through understanding the original language, which required education as opposed to prayer. He concluded that God really expects us to use our brains, that some understanding is better obtained through familiarity with Ancient Greek or Hebrew rather than praying about it. Then a fellow student made jokes about prayer for the… Continue

God, Jealousy, and Oprah
Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? James 4:4-5
Our Jealous God
I watched a YouTube clip a while back that featured Oprah explaining why it was she was disenchanted with religion in general and Christianity in particular (revealing why she has adopted a… Continue

I have been reading a lot lately about family worship, not only because I want to know more about it, but because I lead worship at my church and desire that the kids learn the true meaning and value of worshiping God.
Not only should we see worship as singing and praising God, worship should be a lifestyle that includes prayer, supplication and reading the Word.
In the book "Family Worship: In the Bible, in History & in Your Home" by Donald S. Whitney, I came across… Continue

" The Spirit searches all things, even the deep of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. " 1 Corinthians 2:5b-12

I went into my office tonite after the Wednesday night service and I had a post - it note on my desk from my Ministry Assistant that read, " I thought I was in the wrong office, your desk is so clean!!" I have been reevaluating my schedule and priorities. I have been able to weed out some things that just take too much of my time and adjust them. One thing that I have always, always done is ask the Lord to "order my steps" at the beginning of each day. God said that we should do all things in… Continue

My new address is Living Well on 231 Abundance Terrace, located at the

of town on Begging Peter to Pay Paul Route, located at a dead end
intersection called I Don't Have, which… Continue

My lead Pastor once used the example of a burning fire for why we attend church. He explained that we are each an ember...together in the fire we continue to burn hot and receive fire and fuel from each other...separated we begin to grow cold and die out.
I love this visual. And it's truth. Church is so much more than the place we go to every Sunday because its what we are supposed to do. It is the place to receive. Receive from the Lord and from his people. Every smile and handshake… Continue

A Zeal to Reveal
My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things.
A Stricter Judgment
Christian *teachers (pastors, youth leaders, etc) will be held to a much higher standard than the flock they instruct. However, let us recognize that although they will be more strictly judged, their salvation is secure. This… Continue

The upbringing of children is the main responsibility of the parent. But the rest of the world does have a large influence on them and it changes at the different ages of the child. The biggest problem is that the parent is trying to wean their child and the world is trying to absorb them. So if the foundation isn't strong and the child isn't strong, the world can erase much of the child's proper upbringing. Sadly, due to a child's own personal makeup, they have their own destiny programmed… Continue
