In Mourning

In Mourning

Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness Like the stars forever and ever. Daniel 12:3

How it all Began

From a Compassion-perspective, it all began in the summer1998. That year our family had made our first journey to the Creation Festival at Agape Farms, Shirleysburg, PA. What a mountain-top experience it had been—(almost) nonstop Christian music,… Continue

What Do You See?

What Do You See?

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. Revelation 1:12-13

Let’s Start at the Bottom…

At the bottom of this Bible verse, that is. Why the ‘Son of Man’ allusion, because Jesus used the term regularly… Continue

Bible Lessons, Telling His Stories

When I get ready to teach a Bible lesson to children I interact with them in this way; "Is the Lion King true or not? Of course it is not! Have you ever seen a lion talk? Is Toy Story true or not? You're right! Most toys do not talk without batteries or pulling a string. How about the movie Iron man? Right again! These are just stories. They are fun to watch but they are not true. Today we are going to tell you a story that is absolutely true! It is from the Bible and the Bible is one hundred… Continue

Full Disclosure

Full Disclosure

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants--things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Revelation 1:1-2

Are you a Christ Follower?

How to be a Christ follower?

Summoning the crowd along with His disciples, He said to them, “If anyone wants to be my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me”. Mark 8:34 (HCSB)

Step one, Deny Yourself

What does this mean to the Children’s minister? For me it means laying aside my plans for my life and the ministry that God has placed me over.

There was a time when I thought that I wanted to be more than a children’s minister.… Continue

Are You In Love

Are You In Love

But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 20 & 21

What does it mean to stay in the love of God? Is this somehow a suggestion from Jude that there is something we can do to make God love us more? And if that is the case, is there then something we can do, or… Continue

Sinking in an sea of the unknown

So I've been in this position for about a year now. And I love Sundays when I get to see the kids and hear them talk about Jesus. But the rest of the week is a huge struggle for me, I consistently feel inadequate. I've run out of ideas, hit the wall at full speed.

Finding volunteers is like pulling teeth, mainly because all the people that feel called to work with kids already do.

How do I bless the people I already have?

How do I bring in more… Continue

My Jesus

If you read this you will no doubt discover that I am not a poet. I wrote this essay (or whatever you call it) in response to a friends observation that many praise songs have an undesirable effect of feminizing Jesus. Lyrics that describe Jesus as being beautiful and lovely leave some men a little hesitant to join in worship of our Lord and King. Now make no mistake, the acts of Jesus are beautiful to me. However, I would not walk up to a man on earth and tell him he is beautiful to me no… Continue

Children's Ministry or Entertainment?

Children's Ministry or Entertainment?

By Jerry Moyer

The Jubilee Gang

Over the years we have seen new ideas incorporated into children’s ministry such as; games, multi media, and technology at the expense of watering down the gospel message.

We use most of these methods during our Jubilee Gang events. However, the purpose of our events are not to just entertain and wow the children, but to lay a firm foundation from the word of God… Continue

Books We Are Reading!

We are always reading books together as a children's staff. We read a minimum of 1-2 chapters each week and then discuss it in staff meeting. Here are the two books we are currently reading...

-Creating Ever Cool...A Marketer's Guide to a Child's Heart
-Doing Church As A Team

Reading and discussing books together is a great way to grow as a team.

How Will You Be Remembered?

How Will You Be Remembered?

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. 3 John 9 + 12

The third book of John tells us about three people, two of which I want to discuss today: Diotrephes and Demetrius. Both considered themselves followers of Jesus, but yet Diotrephes emulated that which was evil.… Continue

Heavenly and Earthly Witnesses

Heavenly and Earthly Witnesses

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one. 1 John 5:7-8

Training resource

By the way, we will be releasing some training on DVD in January. Our most popular and requested workshop has been Inspiring World Changers so we took that information and condensed it down on DVD. We are also looking into releasing that online as well. Keep your fingers crossed.

Finger Print Scan Check In System?

Is anyone using Finger Print Scanning to check in your kids yet? N-spire just came out with this new technology and we are looking into it. Any thoughts? Are we setting up the system for the Mark of the Beast?

Immeasurably More

What a night! I am exhausted and all I did tonight was open the evening and lead worship. Of course everything went wrong. The copy machine didn't work, the music didn't play correctly, my techie didn't know how to fix it, and we started late, but does that have me down? Absolutely not!

You see, I have watched in amazement, as both of our programs have been flooded with volunteers with little or no effort on my part. I watch in amazement, week after week as parents and kids return to… Continue
