Factoring-In Heaven

Factoring-In Heaven

And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. Revelation 15:2

Seen as Losers

The Tribulation is going to be a horrible time and persecution against the Christian is going to be at an all-time high. Oh, these persecuted… Continue

It's A Good Feeling

I love Christmas. Everything about Christmas is wonderful - the shopping, wrapping, Christmas cards, cooking and baking, decorating and Christmas music. I love it all but there is a good feeling when Christmas comes and goes, the tree and decorations have been put away and things get back to normal. In the last two days, we put it all away

and finally last night we lit a fire in the fireplace, had a great cup of tea and read a good book. That hasn't happened in a long time. I don't usually… Continue

Doing Christmas vs. Having Christmas

We didn't get the luxury of "having" Christmas this year at Crosspointe Church. My husband, the pastor, felt called to take a trip over the Christmas holiday to Uganda. A friend who normally spends Christmas break handing out shoes to children in villages over there was not well. What a blessing that our church released David to go be the hands of Jesus in Africa - and on Christmas!

As our church would be without their pastor and we had recently moved into a temporary facility -… Continue

Angel = Messenger = You + Me

Angel = Messenger = You + Me

Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth--to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people--saying with a loud voice, "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water." Revelation 14:6-7

You’re Not Lost Until You Know You Are Lost

You’re Not Lost Until You Know You Are Lost

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (and) the wages of sin is death...But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord…God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us (so) whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved…If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from… Continue

The Morning After the Happy Holidays

Christmas 2008 is done, although the fabulous New Year Parties are coming quickly. In the course of this "holiday season," we have all been barraged with stories and images of how terrible our present circumstances are: the economy, the jobs, health care, the automobile industry, housing, and the world image of the United States. Not emphasized but readily noticeable by anyone who is reasonably conscious are the ethical practices of the political party who won the last election. Watching the… Continue

We Ain't Got Nobody!

Recently I was in a check-out line at a large department store. The cashier was scanning my purchases…and then it happened. One of the items was missing the sku number and she couldn’t ring it up. Don’t you hate it when that happens!

I really needed the item, so I asked if she could page someone to get one that had a sku number on it. She sighed, looked around, and then said something I will never forget. She said “We ain’t got nobody!” Translated that means, “Too bad…I am not going… Continue

Who Was That Woman I Saw You With?

Who Was That Woman I Saw You With?

But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. Revelation 12:14

Nothing New

There is really nothing new in the Book of Revelation. The Revelation (in part) is in the understanding that everything contained within the text is found… Continue

Can I Get a Witness

Can I Get a Witness

And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days...When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them...And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. Revelation 11:3, 7,… Continue

My Favorite Gift

Thursday evening (Dec 18) our staff held our annual Christmas party. It was fun tine with good food, lots of games, and a few small gifts. It is always refreshing to spend time with the folks you work with, outside the office. You can really get to know them on a different level. Of course some levels are best left unknown. Am I right Hot Pastor?

Toward the end of the evening we read several Bible passages about Jesus, and then we were asked to write down our favorite gift from God.… Continue

Why I still give altar calls

Why I still do altar calls or invitations to be born again.....

I realize that a lot of the church world has moved away from doing alter calls during their services. Many people have questioned why I continue to use this method of evangelism. Let me start off by stating a few things that I see that would cause leaders to shy away from this method.

1. I understand that just because someone comes forward during a service does not mean that a change has taken place in… Continue

Sweet and Sour Soup

Sweet and Sour Soup

Then I took the little book out of the angel's hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. And he said to me, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings." Revelation 10:10-11

The Problem with Sin

The Problem with Sin

But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21

Sin is Bad Because…

Spend Less, Give More Christmas!

This weekend will culminate a month of promoting what for most kids will be a radical new way of looking at Christmas. Almost all of our kids in the Adventureland Kids ministry will answer that Jesus is what Christmas is about, but then will walk out of the church and grab the Christmas catalog from a store and start circling or checking all the things they want to get for Christmas.

See, I feel that too many Christians talk a good game, but don't back up their words with action.… Continue

It's beginning to FEEL a lot like Christmas??

Since when did there have to be 500 billion things going on for it to feel like Christmas? I don't know about you, but if you're experiencing the kind of schedule that I have this season, it's getting harder and harder to have that "Christmas feeling". From children's Christmas programs, to shopping, to parties, to cookie exchanges, to wrapping gifts, to shoveling snow, to decorating, to sending out Christmas cards, this can be the most hectic time of year, not the "most wonderful time of the… Continue
