Please Pray

Please continue to pray for the little boy, Ethan, who is being held hostage in Alabama. Please pray for his family; I know if he were my grandson I'd be seriously in need of your prayers. Please also pray for the family of the bus driver as they have his funeral today; he was a hero who gave his life trying to protect the children on his bus. And please pray for the man who has caused all this pain; pray he will come to his senses and allow Ethan to return to his family. Please…

In Colorado

I'm in Colorado for a few days meeting with the wonderful staff of Group Publishing. We are preparing for the upcoming How2 Conference that will be held in 17 cities across the US in the next few months. It's going to be a great conference that will help children's ministries discover a blueprint for effective ministry. I flew out of Ft. Lauderdale early this morning to get here and barely caught the flight. There was a major wreck on I95 that backed… Continue

Brittany Hargest, Love All the Way . . . I'm Giving One CD Away!

There are many great music options available for Christian families to  enjoy and sing together, but as children get older, they may want to look for music with less of a "child focus" and sound, so what music can you recommend to these families in your ministry? I'm happy to share with you a new release from Brittany Hargest . . . Love All the Way!

Graduation - a Time to Help Grandparents & Parents Pass Their Faith

Graduation is upon us - and while graduation is something for the older children in your church, it is a special time for families with teens graduating from high school and young adults graduating from college - and this makes a wonderful opportunity for your…

Thankful or "Wantful"?

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and today people are rushing to the stores for the "Black Friday Deals". People have turned their focus to the things they "want" . . . and this includes the children in our ministries as they think about the things they want to receive for Christmas.

It seems like there is so little focus given to being thankful and while we might be quick to encourage children and families to take time to be truly thakful…

Don't Miss the Mark!

believe children's ministry is important and it matters; every church should be focused on what they want to accomplish in and with their children's ministry and have a real plan to do so.

But, I am becoming more and more convinced we are missing the mark in our children's ministries. We put all our "eggs in one…

kidmin is community

just a small group of the kidmin inside track team in colorado this spring. (we had great fun dreaming and praying for kidmin 2012.)

being a single gal in kidmin can often times leave one feeling alone and isolated in ministry.  this was the case for a season before i became involved in group’s…

Help Children Develop an Accurate View of God - God Knows What He is Doing!

I have been talking this week about how we help children develop an accurate view of God in a world where they have anything but an accurate view of Him. Of course, it is essential for children to not just know God loves them, but to fully believe it and they need to know they…

Finding Joy in the Mundaneness of Ministry

Over time, things can become very routine.  We wake up at the same time everyday, brush our teeth (and if you're like me, you only buy one brand of toothpaste), drink coffee from the same cup, take the same route to work get my drift. We don't even have to think about it - we just do it, sometimes so well, we could do it with our eyes…

Staff Christmas Party

Last Friday night we hosted a Christmas Party for our Garden's Campus Children's Ministry staff at our house. We ate and ate and ate and then played board games, video games, air hockey, laughed, hung out, etc. It is an honor to serve with our team. They give their all to help connect kids and families to Jesus. A big shout out to them! They rock!

Below is a picture we took at the party.

I have been long thinking about one thing in my life it keeps coming back to me over and over and over. I forget about it for awhile, but when I least expect it bam! The thought comes back. You might be telling me alright already just get on with your thought. I like to keep you in suspense for a little bit longer. Alright do I solely depend on the money that I make as the CP where I am at. That might seem like a weird question because money pays the bills and it's a good thing to be paid. I… Continue

How Do I Help a Child Who . . . Does NOT Want to Be Here?

Children's Ministry is a place where there are children. This is pretty much a "no-brainer", but because there are children in our children's ministries, while most of the time most of the children participate without any trouble, there are times when we will have to give focused care to specific children. So, for the next week, let's look at specific times when specific children will need focused care . . . starting with the child who does NOT want to…
